Lily: More in Jesus

At the end of many of my days, I feel like I could’ve done more, I could’ve been more. I feel like sometimes I need a time machine or something to go back and be the "more" that I should’ve been.

But I don’t have a time machine.

So I have to learn to be more, to think more of how I can serve Jesus, my Lord and Savior.

But yet I still seem to struggle with that.

One evening, when I really felt bad about my day, I begged Jesus to help find a way to be the more I needed. And as I was getting ready for bed, a thought popped into my head, love.  Of course I was confused, what did love have to do with my everyday struggles? I didn’t think it had to do with anything until the next morning.

After I finished talking to Jesus about my daily bible study, which landed in Colossians 3:1-17, a song by We Are Messengers popped into my head, in particular, the lyrics “How can I forgive when I can't forgive myself”...and this line changed to “how can I love, when I don’t love myself"... and it hit me. These thoughts weren’t mine, they were Jesus teaching me that I have to love myself, so I can love others. I have to forgive myself so I can forgive others.

Jesus always has a plan, and though sometimes we may not understand it 100% of the time, we just have to trust in Him because He will never let us down.

Tate: God's Beauty

Today I decided to take a walk with my brother’s dog (Zepp). I put on my rain boots, grabbed my jacket, and went to go get Zepp’s leash. Then I headed out into the peaceful light rain. As I was walked around the neighborhood, I noticed all of nature's beauty surrounding me.

I saw spring time flowers blooming, their sweet smell filling my nose. I noticed so many other small, beautiful things around me, even though it was a dark and rainy day. This helped open my eyes to God’s beauty that surrounds us. Even when we're going through rough times, we can always see and feel God’s beauty and love surrounding us. Sometimes we just have to open our eyes to see it.

I think this is really important to remember when we’re going through struggles in life. Opening our eyes to look for God’s beauty can be a game changer.

Jesus is always here for us, sometimes we just need to open our eyes.
